In August 2019, I held my first DSLR. I started, as many do, shooting with automatic settings and watching YouTube videos to learn the basics. After a few months, and several outings in Northern California, Oregon and Nevada, I’ve started to feel more comfortable managing manual settings and composing shots. I live in Northern California, near Lake Tahoe, with access to some of the world’s most beautiful views.

I thought I knew my surroundings, but with a camera in hand everything took on new life. I’ve explored Tahoe beaches and sights others travel across the globe to photograph. I’ve lived in the area for over 16 years and never knew Bonsai Rock existed (see Landscapes for images). Photography has shed light on all I’ve been missing and has opened the door to artistic expression and personal fulfillment.

I’m drawn to landscapes and self portraits but I’m also fascinated with night photography and whatever I find on my travels. Photography has become an outlet, an opportunity to face my fears, release stress and connect with others. I look forward to the journey ahead and appreciate comments and feedback. I’m eager to learn and hope to share my experiences with you. Thanks for your interest and support.
